rom 16 to 19 January, four Hungarian bands and artists; Babé Sila, Antonia Vai, Apey and Apey & the Pea, rocked the stage at Eurosonic Noorderslag (ESNS). ESNS is Europe’s largest and most important showcase festival and conference held in Groningen each year.

The up and coming Hungarian acts performed a total of seven times during the festival, at various locations in Groningen. The aftervideo of the Hungarian presence at the showcase festival below, made by Csaba Bogádi of Lonely Film, shows an impression of the artists’ performances. Ambassador Kocsis greeted all the acts at the festival, during their performances on 17 January.

The Hungarian acts were promoted by HOTS (Hungarian Oncoming Tunes), the brand to promote fresh and emerging Hungarian music on international level, and supported by the Embassy of Hungary in The Hague.

HOTS co-organized the CEEntral Party, with export agencies from the Czech Republic, Austria, Slovakia and Poland. The networking event and party, during which Babé Sila and Antonia Vai also held a short performance, was visited by over 300 ESNS conference delegates including managers, PR-specialists, festival and tour bookers.

HOTS furthermore launched the largest promotional campaign for the Hungarian acts ever, and the presence of the Hungarians in Groningen resulted in a wide range of media coverage.

Ambassador Kocsis was interview by local newspaper Dagblad van het Noorden about his visit to Groningen.
