On 19 January 2021 the Hungarian minister of foreign affairs and trade, Mr Péter Szijjártó visited the Netherlands.
During their discussion, Minister Szijjártó informed OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities Kairat Abdrakhmanov that Hungarians and their families are being intimidated and attacked in Transcarpathia, and asked the High Commissioner to lobby for the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission observers to be present in Transcarpathia on a permanent basis. He also said that Hungary would support the work of the Office of the High Commissioner with a voluntary contribution of 50 thousand euros.
In a meeting with Ladislav Hamran, President of Eurojust, the partners underlined the importance of the fight against terrorism and migration. Minister Szijjártó reiterated Hungary’s support for the intergovernmental agency as opposed to the federal-type European Public Prosecutor's Office.
Péter Szijjártó informed foreign minister Stef Blok about the investments of Dutch companies in Hungary with grants from the Hungarian government. The Hungarian minister said cooperation between the Netherlands and Hungary would be much better were it based on mutual respect and if the Dutch were not so obsessed with Hungary’s domestic affairs and launched less politically or ideologically motivated attacks on Hungary.
