The Embassy of Hungary in The Hague is looking for a Political Analyst

The Embassy of Hungary in The Hague is the official representation of Hungary in the Netherlands. The Embassy maintains and develops political, trade and cultural relations between Hungary and the Netherlands and provides consular aid and services to Hungarian citizens in the Netherlands. It also carries out tasks related to the representation of Hungary at the various international organizations based in The Hague. 
 
As Political Analyst, you will balance a dynamic portfolio including reporting on Dutch domestic, foreign and EU politics. Furthermore, you will contribute to the representation of Hungary at the international organizations in The Hague, including the International Criminal Court and the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. Lastly, you will contribute to the substantive organization of events and be responsible for drafting opinion pieces, speeches and correspondence in English and Dutch. 
 
You must demonstrate exceptional diplomatic agility and insight. You must be comfortable in creating and maintaining contacts with members of the diplomatic corps and those working within international organizations. 
 
Prerequisites
- Provision of a certificate of good conduct (Verklaring Omtrent Gedrag), issued within 3 months 
- No criminal record 
- Legal capacity
- Agreement to carry out security check 
 
Required competencies
- Advanced university (of applied sciences) degree in political science, international relations, law, diplomacy,  governance, or related fields
- Demonstrable knowledge of international security and international justice
- Demonstrable knowledge of the Dutch political system of local and national governance
- A well-developed political antenna that anticipates and perceives pitfalls and outcomes
- Professional-level writing skills with ability to produce user-friendly materials for a variety of audiences 
- Computer literacy (MS Office applications)
- Being a Dutch native speaker and fluent in English 
 
Main duties and responsibilities
- Follow the work of the Dutch parliament and government 
- Draft clear, factual reports and analysis on the substance of parliamentary meetings and on different government policies
- Attend meetings within international organizations in The Hague, including the OPCW and ICC and draft reports
- Draft speeches, opinion pieces and other texts for publication in English and Dutch
