As Hungary is currently holding the presidency of the Visegrád countries, on May 24 the Hungarian Embassy in The Hague organized a panel discussion on the future of the EU. Ms. Lívia Járóka, Vice-President of the European Parliament (EPP, Hungary), Mr. Hans van Baalen, President of the ALDE Party (ALDE, The Netherlands) and Mr. Kosma Złotowski, Member of the European Parliament (ECR, Poland) shared their views on the challenges the European Union is facing today and outlined the possible ways forward. The panel discussion was moderated by Professor Jaap de Zwaan, former director of the Netherlands Institute of International Relations Clingendael.

Among other topics the Members of the European Parliament reflected upon the EU’s role in the globalized world, the 2021-2027 Multi-annual Financial Framework, the possible consequences of Brexit, the question of migration and also on social issues.

Members of The Hague diplomatic community, representatives of the Dutch government, academic and cultural sphere and journalists attended the event which was sponsored by the Hungarian V4 Presidency Ministerial Commissioner of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary.
