On June 5, the Embassy of Hungary in The Hague hosted a public movie night screening the Hungarian classic “A tanú/The Witness at” the Polish Embassy. The film was introduced by Ambassador Kocsis, providing some background on the context of the film. The audience, “A tanú” fans and first timers, enjoyed the entertaining yet at times cleverly confronting film and had a lively discussion afterwards about the reality of past communist regimes and the unique perspective “A tanú” provided on this part of Hungary’s history.

The event was part of the four-day V4 Film Festival organized by the Embassies of the Visegrád countries; the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia and Poland on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of democratic transformation in Central Europe.

The Embassies plan to hold the V4 Film Festival annually, making it possible for everyone to learn about and enjoy the cultural history of the Visegrád countries.
