Lídia Mária Van Driel Gesztelyi is an astronomer, Doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Emeritus Scientific Advisor of the Konkoly Thege Miklós Institute of Astronomy of the HUN-REN Centre for Astronomy and Earth Sciences, Professor Emeritus of the Mullard Space Science Laboratory of University College London, who has been doing exemplary and outstanding research for many decades. In recognition of her outstanding research and valuable science organizing activities in the field of solar physics and her dedicated work in promoting Hungarian scientific results abroad, Dr. Tamás Sulyok, President of Hungary, awarded Lídia Mária Van Driel Gesztelyi the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Merit of Hungary on the occasion of the National Day of 20 August 2024. The award was presented by Ambassador Dániel Horogszegi Szilágyi-Landeck at a ceremony at the Embassy of Hungary in The Hague on 22 November 2024.
