Mr Péter Sztáray, State Secretary for Security Policy and Energy Security, visited The Hague on 24 October 2023, where he participated and delivered a speech at a high-level conference that marked the 30th anniversary of the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities and held bilateral talks with High Commissioner Kairat Abdrakhmanov.

Since 1993, the High Commissioner on National Minorities has been actively involved in addressing problems and tensions related to nationalities in the OSCE area. Its mission is to use diplomatic means to help resolve disputes in the field of minority cooperation before they develop into conflicts that could threaten the peace and stability of 57 countries in Europe, North America and Asia.

Hungary has traditionally maintained close relations with the High Commissioner on National Minorities in order to protect Hungarian communities living outside our borders.
