At the initiative of the residents of Dordrecht, an information board about Árpád Weisz was placed on the promenade in Weizigtpark, which was ceremonially handed over on 3 May 2024. Our embassy was represented by diplomat Attila Szabó who laid flowers at the memorial of the former Hungarian national team player and international football coach. Representatives of the DFC, the 1940-1945 museum, the Dordrecht Stolpersteine working group and the municipaltity of Dordrecht were also present at the event and delivered their remarks.

Weisz was born in Hungary in 1896. After his career as a football player, Weisz began a successful coaching career in Italy and later moved to the Netherlands, where he became the coach of the local football club in Dordrecht.

Weisz lost his life together with his wife and two children in a Nazi concentration camp. Weisz's life was taken in 1944, but his memory is still alive in Hungary, Italy and and the Netherlands as well. The information board created in honor of Árpád Weisz was placed on the Árpád Weisz promenade in Weizigtpark in Dordrecht.
