On the occasion of the national day of Hungary, 20 August, the President of Hungary H.E. János Áder has awarded Kees van der Staaij, member of the House of Representatives of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, leader of Staatkundig Gereformeerde Partij the Knight's Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit in recognition of his work to protect European families and fight against modern-day Christian persecution, as well as that of standing up for Hungary.
The decoration was presented by Ambassador András Kocsis during a ceremony on Monday 4 November at the Embassy of Hungary in The Hague.
