On Saturday 3 September, more than forty embassies showed the best of what their countries have to offer, during the Embassy Festival in The Hague. The international market, the heart of the festival, allowed visitors to meander through stalls with culinary delights, wines, coffees and handicrafts. The Embassy of Hungary was represented by two food stalls of De Smaak van Hongarije and Magyar Bolt Rotterdam, where visitor were invited to taste and buy Hungarian products and dishes, such as sausages, wines and fresh Lángos and Goulash.
In the early afternoon, the thousands of festival visitor were treated to two Hungarian music performances. Éva Szalai performed beautiful solo recital works by Bartók, Kurtág and Liszt on the Classical Stage. In between the pieces, Szalai explained the large audience the meaning and importance of the (mainly) Hungarian music pieces.
Soon after Szalai’s performance, the Contemporary Stage of the Embassy Festival featured a special Hungarian combination. Orsi Burján’s Pálinkálom joined forces with Zoli Soós’s Vinsky Project and took the many listeners on a musical travel through Hungarian folk and jazz.
