28 Jun

A Hungarian-Dutch twin city conference was organised in Kiskőrös, Hungary, on 28 June with high-level representatives of three Hungarian (Kiskőrös, Gödöllő, Hatvan) and three Dutch (Krimpen aan den IJssel, Wageningen, Maassluis) cities as a follow-up to the conference organised by the Embassy of Hungary in Amsterdam in November 2017.

Host mayor László Domonyi and Ambassador András Kocsis cherished in their speeches the more than 25-year-old bilateral relations between the cities and emphasized the importance of engagement at all levels. They both stressed that strengthening economic ties could give another impetus to the already active bilateral relations in the fields of culture, education, sport and arts.

During the conference, the representatives of the twin cities presented the main experiences, success criteria and possible future directions of bilateral cooperation. They highlighted the importance of commitments at the levels of both civil organizations and local governments, and referred to the potential future economic co-operations e.g. in the field of smart cities and circular economy.
