Several Hungarian athletes are competing in the Netherlands this week. The Hungarian national women’s team is competing in the ParaVolley Sitting Volleyball World Championships 2018. Hungarian tennis player Attila Balázs already won his first two matches in the ATP Challenger The Hague Open.
On Monday 16 July, Ambassador Kocsis attended the ParaVolley Sitting Volleyball World Championships 2018. The championships are taking place in the Netherlands this year. The Hungarian national women’s team playes at a world championship for the first time and on Thursday it achieved a historic victory against Egypt. The picture below shows Ambassador Kocsis with the national team, he received a signed national shirt from them.
On Thursday 19 July, the presidents of the Hungarian Paralympic Committee and the ParaVolleyball Europe signed a contract on the basis of which Hungary will host the 2019 European Sitting Volleyball Championship for Men & Women in Budapest.
Ambassador Kocsis also visited the ATP Challenger The Hague Open on Tuesday 17 July, where he cheered on tennis player Attila Balázs. In the first round Balázs beat the Dutch Jelle Snels in two straight sets with 6-3 and 7-6. He also won the second round from the Spanish Nicola Kuhn with 6-3 and 6-4. Today, Balázs will compete in the quarter finals against the German Yannick Maden. The Embassy wishes him the best of luck in Scheveningen.
