Between September 13-15 the Huygens Classical Music Festival was held in Leidschendam-Voorburg. Hungary was represented by 4 young musicians from the Zoltán Kodály Music High School in Debrecen, who performed twice over the weekend, giving a 10-minute introduction on Friday and an one and a half hour concert on Sunday, together with Czech, Polish, Slovak and Dutch children.
Deputy Head of Mission Krisztina Varga gave a welcoming address at the opening concert on behalf of the Embassy.
The young musicians from the Visegrád countries, together with the Dutch youngsters took part in master classes on Saturday and Sunday, and performed as an international orchestra at the closing concert on Sunday. During the festival, Hungarian guests were accommodated by host families helping to establish relationships with the other participants and to get to know more about the Dutch culture.
Hungarian participation in the Huygens Festival was supported by the Hungarian Embassy.
