The Eastern Neighbours Film Festival presents every year the best recent films from Central, East and South East Europe. This year, the Festival was held in The Hague from 26 to 28 October (in Het Nutshuis) and from 1 to 5 November (in Filmhuis Den Haag). The program included five Hungarian films.
On 27 October the Oscar-winning Hungarian film, Sing was screened with four other short films in the framework of a special film and language programme for high-school students (aged 12-17). Through carefully selected short films and a lecture from a distinguished linguist from University of Amsterdam, youngsters were introduced to Central and Eastern European languages and learned more about them.
On 2 November the amazing award winning film, White God, by Hungarian director Kornél Mundruczó was screened in the Filmhuis. The film was followed by a successful and really interesting masterclass with the scriptwriter Kata Wéber. She was also interviewed by the festival aftwerwards, that video may be watched here.
Three more Hungarian films were presented during the festival: Hot Men Cold Dictatorships (Mária Takács, 2015), Second Hand (Noémi Barkóczi, 2016) and Invisible (Amra Mehic, 2016).
