The rightly famous Hungarian composer György Kurtág's first opera, Fin de Partie had its Dutch premiere at the Dutch National Opera on 6 March. The Embassy of Hungary invited its high-level political, economic and cultural partners for the full-house performance.

One of the most recent gems of Hungarian culture was thus shown to a former Dutch prime minister, Dutch ministers, heads of international organizations, ambassadors, high-level business representatives, mayors actively involved in Dutch-Hungarian twin-city relations and our valuable cultural contacts, a total of 75 people.

Prior to the performance, the embassy organised a behind-the-scenes tour for the guests in the imposing building of the opera, and hosted a VIP reception after the performance.

At the invitation of the embassy, Szilveszter Ókovács, general director of the Hungarian State Opera, and ballet director Tamás Solymosi also attended the performance. They had bilateral meetings with their Dutch counterparts, discussing future cooperation possibilities between their institutions. General director Els van der Plas and ballet director Ted Bransen also joined the VIP reception, and so did the present director of the opera Sophie de Lint. Stage director Pierre Audi was also personally present at the event. He had been leading the Dutch National Opera for about thirty years, and his personal relationship with the composer dates back more than thirty years.
