On 17 November 2021, the Embassy of Hungary in The Hague commemorated the 140th anniversary of the birth of the Hungarian composer Béla Bartók with a concert at the Diligentia Theater in The Hague. In line with the current Dutch corona measures about hundred political, cultural and economic partners attended the concert.

The concert was given by the young talented Ingenium Trio. Cellist Mátyás Hotzi, pianist András Moldoványi and violinist Li Ke formed the trio in the autumn of 2017 at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest. The trio took part in a Dutch master class in the summer of 2018, and had the opportunity to introduce itself to the Dutch audience on a number of occasions since then. In addition to two works by Béla Bartók, a piece by Bartók’s close friend Zoltán Kodály, and one by György Ligeti, who was greatly inspired by Bartók, were presented at the 40-minute concert in The Hague.

The Dutch and international audience warmly welcomed the enjoyment of some outstanding Hungarian classical music, especially since so many events were recently cancelled due to the pandemic. Still after 140 years Béla Bartók is a great inspiration to many and worth celebrating.
