On Saturday 14 July, Ambassador Kocsis and cultural manager Saskia Molema attended the Zomerfeest of Nieuw Vocaal Amsterdam.

Nieuw Vocaal Amsterdam is a top-level classical choir school, hosting 350 students from 4 to 21 years old. Forty of their most talented young singers will travel to Hungary this summer. They will participate in the global Cantemus Youth Choir Festival in Nyíregyháza. The choir won silver at the festival in 2012, and will go for gold this time. The Amsterdam-based youth choir will also visit the city of Siófok at Lake Balaton, where it will sing together with a local youth choir and perform for the city and its mayor.

During their last concert before going to Hungary, at their summer party in ’t Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ in Amsterdam, Ambassador Kocsis adressed the singers, their conductor and parents. He wished them good luck in Hungary and complimented them on their great Hungarian skills. One of the piece they sang was the Hungarian hymnus.

As a follow-up of their trip to Hungary, the ’Talentenkoren’ of Nieuw Vocaal Amsterdam will give a final concert in Amsterdam at Podium Mozaïek on Sunday 2 September.
