National day commemoration and concert at the Kloosterkerk

On 30 October the Embassy of Hungary in The Hague hosted a solemn and inspiring event at the Kloosterkerk, commemorating the heroes of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music.

The evening was opened with a commemorative speech by H.E. Ambassador Dániel Horogszegi Szilágyi-Landeck. The festive concert featured outstanding artists from the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music performing as a duo: violinist Márta Ábrahám and pianist László Borbély, along with a solo performance by pianist Máté Lachegyi, alumnus of the Academy now living in the Netherlands. Through the works of Liszt, Bartók, Hubay, Kodály, Dohnányi, and Brahms the audience experienced the timeless unity of Hungarian musical heritage and the spirit of freedom.

The concert was followed by reception, where guests were also invited to view a special exhibition dedicated to Franz Liszt, presented by the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music.

We would like to thank the great artists, the Kloosterkerk, the National Cultural Fund for supporting the concert, and last but not least, our guests, partners, and friends of Hungarian culture for this unforgettable evening together.
