"Ms Lisette Mattaar
Director
Humanity House
The Hague

Dear Madam Director,

In my email of 25 July 2018, I expressed my availability to participate in the roundtable discussion De opmars van het anti-migratiefront in Europa to be held on 13 September focusing on Hungary. I would have been ready to discuss recent developments in my country, especially considering the panel is strongly biased against Hungary.

In your reply you indicated that you would be willing to reserve a seat for me on the first row. However, to intervene from the audience would not provide equal footing in the debate, as I experienced so often at other similar panel discussions. In my opinion, this is a clear sign that your event is just another attempt to present my country in an unfavourable light where the voice against the mainstream narrative is not welcome.

I am therefore convinced that this event is a missed opportunity to have a better understanding of the underlying reasons of the Hungarian position concerning illegal migration. This is all the more disappointing considering Humanity House’s vision to share information from various perspectives. Nevertheless, I remain open to cooperating in the future, should the Humanity House be interested in hosting a discussion characterized by fairness and equality.

Yours sincerely,
András Kocsis"
