On Saturday April 6 the Hungarian Choir Amsterdam and Hungarian Choir The Hague gave a joint concert at the Verrijzeniskerk in Amsterdam. It had been 1,5 years since the Hungarian Choirs performed together during the celebration of the 135th anniversary of the Hungarian composer Zoltán Kodály.

The compositions by Kodály were yet again the highlights of the evening. Kodály is not only one of Hungary’s most famous composers, he was also able to change the music education worldwide as a renowned ethnomusicologist and music teacher. Fun and joy in (learning) music were his main focus.

Besides works from Kodály, the audience enjoyed compositions by other Hungarian composers such as Béla Bartók, Lajos Bárdos and Ferenc Farkas. Conductors of the evening were Katalin Kovács and Máté Lachegyi.

Ambassador András Kocsis attended the concert and welcomed the audience. The concert was supported by the Hungarian Embassy in The Hague.
