The fourth edition of the Krimpen Festival was organised on 22 September in Krimpen aan den IJssel. This year, the city’s Hungarian twin city, Kiskőrös was also invited to the local cultural festival.

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the cooperation between the two cities, the mayors of Krimpen aan den IJssel and Kiskőrös, Mr Martijn Vroom and Mr László Domonyi unveiled a commemorative plaque on the town hall square together. The Dutch mayor underlined in his speech that they not only celebrate a twin-city cooperation but rather a bond of friends, pointing out that the long-term relationship was initially about aid and assistance, but that today "equal cities work together".

Ambassador András Kocsis held a speech during a Symposium organised about the future directions of the twin city cooperation. In his speech he praised the active bilateral cooperation, referring to its economic, cultural and social aspects. He emphasized that Hungary is increasingly attractive for foreign investments, and not only for Budapest but also for the Great Plain Region. Further cooperation between the two cities may be expected with relation to smart cities.

A folk dance group of 6 dancers from Kiskőrös also performed at the Festival.
